For afflictions are a grace and gift from the Lord. So you are inadvertently confessing that you are elect children of God. "For whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth." (Heb. 12:6). So take courage, or rather rejoice, because the Lord loves you very much.
